| IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 6, 2005 Duluth, Minn., U.S.A.—The Port of Duluth-Superior’s first export woodpulp cargo was loaded today aboard the Norwegian-flagged general cargo vessel Menominee. The vessel took about 2,000 metric tons of woodpulp for delivery to the Netherlands. The cargo originated from Sappi Fine Paper, Cloquet, Minn. Lake Superior Warehousing Co., Inc., loaded the woodpulp at Duluth’s Clure Public Marine Terminal. “This is encouraging news that fits the Port Authority’s long-term goal of developing Duluth as a major transportation hub,” said Ron Johnson, trade development director for the Duluth Seaway Port Authority. The Menominee was also one of two vessels that delivered Duluth-Superior’s first European lumber imports in 2001. The Menominee, built in 1967 at Lindholmens Varv Shipyard, Goteborg, Sweden, is owned by Nordgrens Rederi, Stockholm, Sweden. Local agent for the vessel is Guthrie-Hubner, Inc. - 30 -
