Taconite record: A record cargo of taconite pellets shipped through the Soo Locks was taken on September 15 by Bethlehem Steel Corporation's 1,000-foot laker Burns Harbor at the Burlington Northern Santa Fe taconite facility in Superior. The cargo of 65,589 metric tons surpassed the previous record set last year of 65,469 metric tons - by the same vessel.
