IMA, CSA Get New Leaders

Former state official Ann M. Glumac has been named president and chief lobbyist for the Iron Mining Association of Minnesota (IMA).

She replaced Wayne Brandt, who resigned

in June to return to his prior position as executive director of the Minnesota Timber Producers Association. Ms. Glumac was manager of state/tribal relations for the state of Minnesota, and also recently served as deputy commissioner for the Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board. A former reporter at the Duluth News-Tribune, she also had served as an administrator for the Minnesota House Environment and Natural Resources Committee and as deputy commissioner for the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.

The IMA represents interests of the taconite industry and its some 20,000 mining and mining-related employees statewide.

The Canadian Shipowners Association (CSA) recently appointed Donald N. Morrison as its president, succeeding T. Norman Hall, who retired. Mr. Morrison is a graduate of Carleton University and has more than 25 years experience in management in the public and private sector. His prime area of expertise has been in the Canadian maritime industry, and most recently he served as president and chief executive officer of the Canada Ports Corporation. He also has held senior positions in the Canadian Coast Guard.

The Port's Past

The CSA represents 11 companies operating 90 Canadian-flag ships operating on the Great Lakes, St. Lawrence Seaway, the Arctic and the Eastern American seaboard. The Association promotes an economic and competitive Canadian marine transportation industry. In 1996 CSA members carried more than 67 million tons of cargo.
