The U.S. Brig
Niagara, a tall ship boasting two 120-foot masts, 13 sails and four
cannons, stopped in Duluth August 1-4. The Niagara is a reproduction
of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry's flagship from the 1813 Battle of Lake
Erie. |

It berthed adjacent
to the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center. A daylong Port of Duluth
dockside festival on August 3 included ethnic foods, family activities and
performances by regional bands. Nearly 10,000 people toured the vessel during
its stay. |
