Soup's on at Bruno's Old World Foods

Bruno's Old World Foods of Duluth purchased a 2.67-acre parcel at Airpark for the purpose of constructing a 17,000-square-foot manufacturing facility this spring. The state-of-the-art building will also feature a temperature-controlled warehouse.

Bruno Tomesch, his wife Betty and daughter Katerina Anderson started manufacturing boil-in-a-bag frozen soups in 1988 out of rented space in Duluth's Canal Park area. The family-owned business grew through the years to the point where extra space is once again needed.

With this expansion the company will become more automated, allowing it to increase distribution while still maintaining its current workforce of 12.

"Our frozen soups are made and packed by hand with great care, and are extremely popular because they come ready to eat," said Katerina Anderson, company president.

"We have 12 different varieties of Bruno's soup, and we also pack for many school fundraising companies," she said.
