Klosowski joins board

Welcome to Ray Klosowski, the Port Authority's newest commissioner, appointed by the Duluth City Council on Nov. 8, 2004. Mr. Klosowski, a retired brigadier general, commanded the 148th Fighter Wing at Duluth from 1989 to 1995 and the Minnesota Air National Guard from 1995 to 1997. He also serves on the board of directors for the Richard I. Bong WWII Heritage Center in Superior and the community advisory committee of Lake Superior College.

Mr. Klosowski, who was born in Moose Lake, Minn., resides in Duluth with his wife, Diana. He is a graduate of Duluth Central High School and the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

Mr. Klosowski succeeds Helena Jackson, vice president and senior trust officer of Private Financial Services, US Bank, Duluth. Mrs. Jackson was appointed to the board by the City of Duluth in November 1992.

The Port Authority's seven-member board is made up of three appointees by the city, two by the governor and two by the St. Louis County board.

On the front: The Lake Superior is spending her last months berthed at the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center. Officials plan to remove the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers tug from the slip, allowing tourists to spend more time on two additional floating attractions — the retired ore carrier William A. Irvin and the former Coast Guard cutter Sundew, which opened for tours last July after its May decommissioning.
