We are intermodal

The Clure Public Marine Terminal, shown above, owned by the Duluth Seaway Port Authority, is a prime 120-acre site located in the heart of the Duluth-Superior Harbor.

And it is a classic illustration of an intermodal operation.

Tenants range from a state-of-the-art ship fueling terminal to metal fabricators, steel and plastic pipe distributors, bulk oil companies, a United Parcel Service outlet and a lumber processing and treatment facility.

The terminal also encompasses five specialized warehouses that combine safe, efficient storage and transfer of all types of general cargo. (See Page 6 for a story about one of the warehouses.)

The terminal efficiently accommodates cargo from sea, rail and road. Much of the traffic is intermodal, with commodities arriving via one mode of transportation and departing via another.
