Former Port Authority Commissioner and Minnesota State Senator Yvonne Prettner Solon of Duluth has been awarded a fellowship for the Midwestern Leadership Institute by the Council of State Governments Midwestern Legislative Conference. Senator Solon was among 37 select lawmakers chosen to participate in the training program that annually identifies and assists promising state leaders in the Midwest.

The American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) presented retiring U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Civil Works Deputy Director Thomas F. "Fred" Caver Jr. with a Career Achievement Award during AAPA's annual Spring Conference in April. The award honors Mr. Caver's contributions to the port industry during his nearly 36-year career with the Corps. AAPA represents public ports throughout the Western Hemisphere.
