John F. (Jack) McGrath, a Port
Authority commissioner from 1966 to 1976, died July 26, 2005, in Sun
Center City, Fla. A native of New York and a graduate of the U.S. Merchant
Marine Academy, Mr. McGrath was a trial attorney for U.S. Steel Corp.
in Duluth, corporate attorney for Minnesota Power and, prior to retiring
to Florida, taught for several years at the College of St. Scholastica.
Gerald D. (Jerry) Charnes, 80,
an accountant for the Guthrie-Hubner vessel agency, died June
5, 2005, in Duluth. Mr. Charnes, a Navy veteran of World War II, joined
the Guthrie-Hubner firm in 1959. Besides three children and five grandchildren,
he is survived by his sister, Germaine Guthrie.
