According to the April edition of the maritime publication Fairplay, a new bauble is on the way for celebrities Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. No, not another adopted baby, but a vessel — and a star of a vessel it will be. The movie star couple has reportedly ordered a luxury yacht to be delivered July 2009 from the Privilege Yard in Civitavecchia, a port north of Rome.

The 280-foot, $27 million yacht is said to be fitted with a swimming pool, heliport — and a submarine — and to include two apartments and two guest suites.

For a comparison, Fairplay noted that for far less money, Aker Yards and the Estonian ferry group Talllink recently signed a contract to build a 927-cabin Galaxy class cruise ferry that can accommodate 2,800 passengers. That vessel is scheduled to be delivered in spring 2009 from Rauma yard in Finland.

“One supposes that photographs of the celebrity couple can be recognized throughout most of the world. In fact, Pitt and Jolie are so well known that the shipyard probably saw them coming,” said Fairplay.
