Three new directors and one former director were elected in January to the Lake Superior Marine Museum Association board for 2008, and an ex-president was elected to return to office: Dave Poulin, retired Minnesota Power accountant and former LSMMA board member/treasurer, was appointed to one year of an unexpired term. Stacey Carlson, associate researcher with the Great Lakes Maritime Research Institute, was appointed to two years of an unexpired term. Jeff Papineau, vice president and controller of Midwest Energy Resources Co., and Joe Zajac, St. Mary’s Medical Center, were each appointed to full three-year terms. The appointees succeed four departing board members: president Jim Banks, vice president Konnie LeMay, past president Davis Helberg and past vice president Fred Cummings. Dennis Medjo, who previously served as president for three years, was selected for another term as president. Mr. Medjo is the retired attractions manager for the Duluth Entertainment & Convention Center. Gene Shaw, public relations director for Visit Duluth, was nominated as vice president, and Jack Schilling, retired partner in the accounting firm of Eikill and Schilling, was nominated for a fifth consecutive year as treasurer.
